Although glass is a static material, I consider it to be an ephemeral medium due to its inherent light refracting qualities. Since working with glass I have tried to exploit this property and use it to
interpret my artistic enquiries.
My work strives to translate a desire for solitude and ephemeral beauty within the ‘natural’ landscape. I am inspired by rugged scenery, ever changing light, weather and seasonal shifts.
This work is designed and created for architectural / interior settings. As opaque windows or internal screens for sectioning and privacy, perhaps referring to a wilder place.
Although the work is mainly created from clear glass, it has many permutations. Lighting levels and ‘coloured’ lighting add infinite ambient possibilities.
The work is made as a double glazed panel with the detail work on the inside, so no sharp areas.
